The goal of the project was to design a set of three posters that were meant to connect to one another. Another aspect of this project was to draw inspiration from an artist we like and mimic a specific aesthetic. I chose an image from a render artist on instagram called @diyacopaymazd. I loved the way his picture popped with the fog and glowing light at the center.
Process:
After choosing my reference picture and taking some time to figure out what products I wanted to showcase, I decided on blade posters. I used a Computer Aided Design (CAD) program called Fusion 360 to design my blades and I chose to make a machete, ax, and knife to show the difference in size between them. After I designed my knives, I imported the files from Fusion 360 into Keyshot, which is a program that allows you to add materials to your 3D CAD models. Once in Keyshot, I had to make my environment from scratch. This process was not easy because you’re dealing with perspective, lighting, texture, environment landscape, air quality and camera angles all at the same time. After finishing my layout in keyshot, I then had to render each poster for an hour. The last step was to take each poster into photoshop to enhance lighting and clean up the final project. After weeks of work, the posters were complete and the finished products speak for themselves.
